Oddness
As many of you know, I've been having massive issues with my right shoulder/arm/neck area since September. It's been getting better with good PT, but not anywhere near as quickly as I'd like. Recently, some of the symptoms started to move to my left hand.

This, as odd as it might sound, was actually a good thing. It made me think about when we discovered I was allergic to the (minute) levels of nickel that were in my first wedding ring. I took off the ring we custom made to have palladium instead, and discovered that a bunch of my pain levels went away. I put the ring back on for a few hours today, it started to come back.

Turns out that there's now more evidence that if you have a nickel allergy you're also likely to be allergic to palladium. If I get my wedding ring recoated with rhodium every 3-5 years[1], I could keep wearing it. However, that means that 1) We're paying a cost for me to keep wearing a ring and 2) it's not always obvious that the pain is coming from my body's reaction to the ring, so it'll take time for us to figure out that's where it's coming from.

We've jointly decided that I just won't wear a wedding ring (or, honestly, probably any rings) anymore, but it feels like a kick to the stomach. I don't want to deal with the problems the ring causes, but I don't want to not have a way to tell people that I'm taken. It's not logical, but that's how I'm feeling at the moment. Any suggestions on what I can do? I've thought about wearing it around my neck on a chain, but eventually the rhodium will probably wear off other parts of the ring and start making me sick again.

I'm delighted that we might have figured out a way to quickly reduce all the pain I'm having. But I wish it was something else that was causing it.

[1]And I'm guessing it'll be every 3 years, as the ring is only 3 years old.
