Paid account is shut off
I have shut off my paid account, moved all my pictures over to Flickr! and fixed the links in here[1], and deleted enough Icons that I should not have any marked "inactive".

In the next few days I will be writing LJ to explain how they lost a paying customer to their incompetence.

[1]If any links aren't working right, let me know.

What was the tipping point? Anything in particular, or just everything together?

This whole "feature" of Snap Shots flipped me from thinking of doing it to doing it. I vehemently oppose opt-in "features" that force you to allow sites you had no desire to work with track you to make sure that you don't see their horrific Java junk. I posted something - politely - about this in the LJ-releases post, I've seen other people bring it up in news and elsewhere (politely and not), and I've yet to see a single response from LJ itself.

That, combined with the customer service debacle of Strikethrough 1 & 2, combined with the fact that they STILL haven't given the HP fans any kind of reasonable answer, leaves me with no true option in my opinion.

I have more than enough money that $20-$30/year for a journal and extra userpics means nothing. However, I refuse to give any sort of monetary compensation to a site that does not listen to it's paying customers. If they want to ignore their customers, they can do it while I use their resources while giving nothing back. They can put all the ads they want everyone on this site; I have AdBlock running at both home and work. Even if I did see an ad, I'm the type that studiously ignores them.

I see no reason to give them money when they do not give their customer base any sort of respect or response.

People are speculating that the Snap thing is the reason LJ starting saying they were also going to consider offsite linking of offensive material to be a TOS.

They really don't care what we do. I bet Brad's glad he's not really a part of things anymore.

They lost me, too, a while back.

*waiting patiently to hear what happened*

I never noticed Snap Shots; I suspect Adblock never let me run into them in the first place. Will you be crossposting to LJ, or should I get an InsaneJournal account so I can read your friends-locked posts there? (Might be time to finally start using an RSS reader instead of having LJ aggregate posts for me...)

Oh, I'm not leaving. I have an IJ because other friends are over there, not because I like it. I'm just going to use their resources without paying for it.

I have AdBlock, I ignore Ads on computers that don't have them... I'm not the type of user that they can make revenue on under their current model. And $20-$30/year for an account and extra userpics barely registers as change to me. I don't even have to think about it, and would have let it go perpetually if they hadn't lost all concept of customer service.
